I am Black and beautiful. Like you, my life has been full of nuance and trauma, and as an ode to Langston Hughes’s “Mother to Son,” we can say “My life isn’t no crystal stair.”
Heal Your Way Forward- myisha t hill—
Support Myisha T. Hill: A Mission of Healing, Justice & Restoration
This is more than work. This is my calling. My ministry. My mission
Why I’m Asking for Your Support
I’m Myisha T. Hill—a writer, teacher, guide, and former deacon and preacher who answered a call I couldn’t ignore.
For years, I served the church faithfully. I preached. I prayed. I held space for healing and transformation. I showed up with my full heart, believing that the institution would hold me back.
But the truth? Some churches—many churches—still uphold the very systems I’ve committed my life to dismantling. White supremacy. Patriarchy. Capitalism. Ableism.
I had to walk away—not from God, not from love, not from service—but from institutions that couldn’t see me and others as fully human.
And even after I laid the collar down, the mission never left me.
The Mission Didn’t End—It Evolved
Now, my pulpit is the page. My sermon is the space I create in community. My ministry is in my writing, my workshops, my healing circles, my truth-telling.
This is still a spiritual calling, rooted in justice, dignity, and restoration.
But here’s what they don’t tell you when you walk away from the institution:
There’s no salary.
There’s no offering plate.
There’s no deacon board to pay your bills when you get sick.
And now, as I navigate long COVID, my ability to physically show up has shifted. But the mission is still calling, and I need a community that chooses to walk with me—not because they’re obligated, but because they believe in the power of this work for all of humanity.
Why I’m Asking for Monthly Support
CYP—the movement I founded—is a growing and powerful collective. But it is not my personal paycheck. It deserves its own resources and infrastructure to thrive.
At the same time, I need to be sustained as a person, as a vessel, as a human being doing deeply emotional and spiritual labor every day.
If 60 people gave $100/month, I could:
✅ Meet my monthly living expenses
✅ Care for my health with integrity and intention
✅ Continue writing, teaching, and leading with presence, not depletion
✅ Keep CYP growing—without leaning on it for personal survival
This Is Reparative, Not Charity
This isn’t about “helping.” This is about investing in (a) a Black women’s wellness, longevity, and leadership, and (b) relational, communal, and healing work for everyone.
It’s about shifting from extraction to reciprocity. From performance to partnership.
Churches raise thousands to send missionaries across the globe.
I’m here. I’ve been here. Doing the work every day for humanity.
Now I’m asking for the kind of support many of us were never taught to ask for: sacred, relational, reparative support.
